\u00a0As with fetishistic transvestism, autogynaephilia is a sexually driven phenomenon. While female clothing is the source of sexual excitement in fetishistic transvestism, in autogynaephilia it is the fantasy of having female bodily characteristics. The autogynaephile may differ from the transsexual in terms of primary gender identity. Whilst the (biologically male) transsexual may identify with the female gender, the autogynaephile may identify them selves as male, but be sexually excited by the fantasy of having female bodily attributes, such as larger breasts or female genitalia.
